Severe thunderstorms loom over Gauteng
The South African Weather Service had issued a watch for possible localised flooding for Tuesday.
The weather service has warned that heavy rainfall could result in 50mm in some areas in Gauteng.
“Possible severe thunderstorms from the afternoon but it is going to be cold as well. A lot of clouds coming in,” says forecaster Edward Engelbrecht.
Engelbrecht also urged motorists to be cautious on the roads.
“Severe thunderstorm will mostly likely bring heavy downpour so there is the possibility, although it’s still a watch, that localised areas could get 50mm or more.”
He said most areas over Gauteng can expect at least 10-20mm of rain.
