Sheila Senkubuge resigns but criminal charges against her linger

"We're also aware of the fact that there have been criminal charges brought against her by a private citizen," said the DA's Gauteng provincial leader, John Moodey.
City of Tshwane Member of the Mayoral Council (MMC), Sheila Senkubuge has resigned as both MMC and DA Councilor in the wake of a so-called "sex tape" saga.
The DA's Gauteng provincial leader, John Moodey confirmed that he received the letter of resignation on Saturday morning and that the party has accepted it.
This leaves all internal party investigations into her conduct moot, said Moodey.

Senkubuge had been in the centre of a political storm after a recording emerged of her and Tshwane Mayor, Stevens Mokgalapa discussing city court cases and seemingly having sex.
"We're also aware of the fact that there have been criminal charges brought against her by a private citizen relating to her being on the voter's role and only having alleged permanent residency status," said Moodey.
"That is for the IEC, Home Affairs, and Sheila to deal with and the law must take its course," said Moodey.
