A
Gqeberha woman who strangled a child to death with a shoelace has been
sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Twenty-five-year-old Lesley-Anne Damon pleaded guilty in the High Court on Thursday as per a plea agreement with the State.
In March this year, Damon's fetched the nine-year-old Quinisha Sebrand from her home in Bethelsdorp to take her for a haircut, instead, they hiked to Maitland's beach where she was ultimately killed.
After killing Quinisha, Damon left her body on the beach but later that night went to the Seaview Satellite Police Station to report the crime.
Damon's plea agreement was read out in court and detailed Sebrand's last moments.
In the plea agreement, Damon's said her actions were driven by her depression after she had an abortion that was forced upon her by Sebrand's father who was her boyfriend at the time.
The plea further stated that her ex-boyfriend, Quinton Goodman, was not welcoming of the unborn child.
