Shots fired at councillor’s home in EC
Eastern Cape police are investigating a case of attempted murder following an attack on the home of an Amathole District councillor on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Tembinkosi Kinana says the incident took place in the early hours of Sunday in the Baysville suburb of East London.
“According to the information, an unidentified suspect arrived and started shooting several shots through the bedroom window.
“The councillor was not present in the room at the time, but only children who allegedly escaped unhurt as they were in other rooms.”
Kinana says the motive for the attack is not known.
“The SAPS will not make any speculation, (however) a task team with capable investigators, and a senior officer has appointed to lead the investigations.”
