A video of the hijacking, where the suspects could be seen hijacking the woman and leaving her for dead in the street, has gone viral.

The suspects were apprehended at a tavern in Alexandra.
"A team made up of the South African Police Service and Johannesburg Metro Police Department pounced on the tavern and were able to apprehend a total of 17 suspects, while an unconfirmed number managed to escape,” says Gauteng Police spokesperson, Mathapelo Peters.
"Police were able to link six men to the incident in Bramley, while the remaining eleven were released as they could not be linked to any crimes.”

The six arrested suspects have also been linked to three other robberies, including a business robbery at a U-Save in Alexandra in October and a business robbery at a Chicken Licken reported at Bramley this month.

"Police have now launched a manhunt for six more suspects believed to have been involved in the commission of these business robberies," says Peters.
The six suspects are expected to appear before the Alexandra Magistrate Court on Monday.
