Slight drop in SA's Covid positivity rate

The majority of new cases are from Gauteng (33%), followed by the Western Cape (17%). Kwa-Zulu Natal accounted for 13%.
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), has reported 2,782 new Covid-19 cases.
"This increase represents an 8.9% positivity rate," says the NICD in a statement.

They noted 221 deaths due to Covid-19 complications but said only 14 occurred in the last 24 hours with the rest due to the ongoing audit exercise by the National Department of Health (NDoH).
This brings the total fatalities to 95,766 to date.

Kwa-Zulu Natal accounted for 13%; Mpumalanga accounted for 10%; Limpopo accounted for 8%; North West accounted for 7%; the Free State accounted for 6%; the Eastern Cape accounted for 3%; and the Northern Cape accounted for 2% of new cases
"There has been an increase of 94 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours.," said the NICD.
