Slight fuel price increase in February

The Department of Energy announced a slight increase in the price of petrol and diesel on Friday.
The price of all grades of petrol will increase by 7c a litre on Wednesday, while diesel will go up by between 1 and 2c a litre.
Illumining paraffin will, however, drop by 5c per litre and LP Gas between 7c and 11c per kg.

The department’s spokesperson, Robert Maake, says the increase is mainly due to the higher international oil price.
"International factors include the fact that South Africa imports both crude oil and finished products at a price set at the international level, including importation costs, for example, shipping costs.
“The current fuel price adjustments are due mainly to the international factors, namely, the increase in crude oil prices.”
