Slight increase in June consumer inflation
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
South Africa's headline consumer price inflation recorded a slight increase from 2.1% in May to 2.2% in June.
Stats SA released the latest Consumer Price Inflation (CPI) on Wednesday morning.
The uptick in consumer inflation was largely down to the increase in fuel prices, Stats SA’s Patrick Kelly said.

“The dominance of fuel prices changes recorded in the previous few months continued in June, with these increasing by 7.5% between May and June. With petrol increasing by 9.9% and diesel by under 2%.”
Despite the recent increase in the price of fuel, it is still 20% cheaper than it was a year ago.
