Soccer star's drunk driving case postponed to next year
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
Traffic officials say the drunk driving case involving a Bafana Bafana player will only be back in court in 2019.
The 28-year-old former Orlando Pirates and current Bafana Bafana player was granted bail on Sunday.
According to Tshwane Metro Police spokesperson Isaac Mahamba, the player will only appear in the Hatfield Magistrate's Court on May 15 2019.
"The reason that he will appear next year is that we are still waiting for the results of the blood samples that were taken from him as soon as those results become available, we might even call or subpoena him earlier for him to appear in court."
The identity of the soccer player cannot be released as he is still expected to plead in court.
He was among 15 people arrested in Hatfield at the weekend.

"We are not worried. It is process that we need to follow. We trust the system as and when it's ready. We do not want to push or rush things, we want to do things accordingly," Mahamba said.
