Some govt officials to get Covid jab during first phase, says Mkhize

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize says some top government officials will be inoculated to boost confidence on the use of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Mkhize addressed Parliament’s health committee on Friday afternoon on the vaccine roll-out strategy.
The inoculation of healthcare workers is set to kick-off next week - with Gauteng starting with the jabs on Wednesday at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in Johannesburg.

Mkhize told MPs that the inoculation of officials will help in the fight against myths and misinformation.
"It may well be useful to make sure that to boost confidence that some of the leaders must also move in front just so the people don't feel that the leaders are also afraid of taking the vaccine themselves," said Mkhize.
Mkhize admitted that the whole the process will not necessarily be smooth.
"There will be stop /start issues, there will be issues of new lessons, issues of challenges and obstacles.
"All of that will be taken into our stride as we move on," Mkhize said.
