The Department of Health in Tshwane is assisting the probe by the Gauteng outbreak response team into the suspected case of food poisoning at Rodney Mokoena Primary School in Soshanguve.
Seventy-eight pupils were rushed to various medical facilities on Wednesday after eating food prepared at the school.
The city’s Health MMC Rina Marx said the laboratory results will be available this coming week.
"City of Tshwane EHPs have been actively involved in assisting with the investigation. Food and water sampling, as well as surface swabs, were taken for laboratory testing. The results will be made available in the coming week".
"As the MMC responsible for Health, I personally visited the school on Friday and met with the acting school principal. My team and I inspected the facility where food is prepared for the learners. Furthermore, our EHPs used the opportunity to brief food handlers on the correct way to handle food," said Marx.
