South Africa records over 13 000 new Covid-19 cases

South Africa recorded over 13 000 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total number of cases to 2 435 036.

This relates to a 23.4 % positivity rate.
A total of 248 deaths related to the virus were also reported, bringing the total number of fatalities since the start of the pandemic to 71 679.
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NCID) says 14 806 616 tests have been conducted at this stage at both the private and public sectors.
A total of 16 142 people are admitted to the hospital due to Covid-19 related complications.
The country reached 7 million vaccinations this week.
