Government has given informal traders the green light to operate for the remainder of the lockdown, as long as they are in possession of a permit.

The metro police’s Wayne Minnaar says one street vendor was taken in as a witness.

“A third suspect has been taken in to be a witness for the state because he actually bought the fake permit for R300.

“Permits have been made by individuals and selling them to street vendors at R300 each and JMPD got to know about these fake permits when a local counsellor reported it.”

The remaining two suspects will appear in court soon.
