SA Rugby (SARU) has put a lid on speculation that the Web Ellis Cup lid has been misplaced.

As the Springboks embarked on their national tour in the wake of their Rugby World Cup victory, social media users commented that the Web Ellis Cup seemed to be missing its lid.

However, as the Springboks visited Parliament and then took to the streets of Cape Town on Monday, the trophy lid was safe and secure where it was meant to be.
SA Rugby clarified: "We have it all the time with us."
SA Rugby added that they only take out the trophy and lid when stationary or when there is an official photo being taken.
