Spy accusations meant to divert attention from Zondo commission, claims Hanekom

Former Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom has released a statement following arguments in the Durban High Court in his defamation suit against former president Jacob Zuma.
Hanekom is suing Zuma for R500 000 after the former head of state wrote on Twitter that he is a “known enemy agent”.
The accusation came shortly after Hanekom admission that he met with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) to discuss Zuma’s removal.

Not only has former President Zuma labelled Hanekom as a' known enemy agent', he has also accused former army chief Siphiwe Nyanda and former Mineral Resources Minister Ngoako Ramathlodi of being apartheid spies.
"My view is that ours being labelled as spies is a premeditated strategy to divert attention from the real work of the Zondo Commission to uncover the truth about allegations of corruption and State Capture," Hanekom said in a statement.
Judgment has been reserved with a ruling expected next week.
