The embattled power utility, which implemented Stage 2 rolling blackouts on Wednesday and Thursday, says it hopes there will then be no further load shedding for the foreseeable future.

Eskom acting CEO and chairperson Jabu Mabuza briefed the media on the latest round of power cuts at OR Tambo International Airport on Thursday evening.

Mabuza said this will allow dam levels to recover during the weekend and for the power utility to implement other recovery strategies.

"This will allow our pumps storage dam level to be recovered over the weekend. This plan required some diesel generation.

"We will keep you South Africans informed about the status of recovery efforts.

"We'd like to apologise to our customers and South Africans, particularly to our matriculant and business for the inconvenience."
