The water restrictions affect regions 1, 3 and 4.

The restrictions are due to a drop in its reservoir water levels.

City of Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo says the restrictions are necessary to prevent the network from collapsing.

“Residents within the City of Tshwane’s jurisdiction are thus urged to reduce their water consumption. Tshwane would also like to remind residents that the water restrictions that were imposed previously in line with the water supply by-laws, were never withdrawn and are therefore still applicable.”

The affected areas include Ga-Rankuwa, Soshanguve, Mabopane, Kruisfontein Reservoir and  Rosslyn.

“The city urges all residents to make efforts in decreasing the water demand by adhering to the water restrictions and reducing their water consumption,” says Mashigo.

“In addition, we would like to plead with the residents across Tshwane for their cooperation during this period of water restrictions.

“Do not water or irrigate gardens with a hosepipe or sprinkler system between 06:00 and 18:00.Do not wash vehicles with hosepipes or high-pressure systems. Do not fill swimming pools.”
