The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has been granted access to former Bosasa COO Angelo Agrizzi's medical records.
The matter was heard on Wednesday at the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court where Agrizzi again failed to appear.
Agrizzi has not been in court since October 2020 due to ill health.
NPA Investigative directorate spokesperson Sindisiwe Seboka says the state made further submission on the appointment of an independent pulmonologist.
"The court also heard through the state submission today that we have now appointed the services of an independent pulmonologist to assess Mr Angelo Agrizzi.

"We have also been given consent through Mr Agrizzi's legal team in court that we will be able to go through his private and confidential medical records. A decision will be made in court after these assessments have been completed."
The fraud and corruption case against Agrizzi and his three co-accused which include former commissioner of Correctional Services Linda Mti, former Chief Financial officer Patrick Gillingham and former Bosasa CFO Andries van Tonder, are in relation to four contracts awarded to Bosasa worth R1.8 billion.
The contracts were awarded to Bosasa between 2004 and 2007.
The matter has been transferred to the High Court.
