State wants ANC MP Sibusiso Kula’s bail revoked

The State has asked the court to revoke the bail granted to murder-accused ANC Member of Parliament Sibusiso Kula.
It told the High Court sitting in Klerksdorp on Tuesday that Kula contravened his bail condition by approaching witnesses and persuading them to change their statements provided to the State.
Kula is currently out on R50,000 bail.
The politician was arrested in January 2023 in connection with the murder of his wife, Jennifer Kula (31), after her body was found at her home in Kanana township in November 2022.
A previous bid by Kula to have the case struck off the roll was rejected by the court.
The North West NPA’s Advocate, Dalton Tshinyani, said the State will play a video which allegedly captured him visiting a police officer in the holding cells.
"We will also hand in statements of the witnesses whom were alleging that the accused was trying to influence them not to testify against him, also we have the statement of the police officer who was stationed at the holding cells, because he visited our witnesses at the holding cells."
"The investigating officer will continue to testify and we will play the video from the holding cells, because we want to prove that it was him who visited the witnesses."
Kula is charged with murder, defeating the ends of justice, contravention of the Domestic Violence Act, making false statements and affidavits, and conspiracy with any other person to aid or procure the commission of murder.
