Stats SA: Significant income gap between men and women

Stats released on Thursday show women continue to earn significantly less than their male counterparts in the workplace.

Stats SA released its latest Inequality and Trends Report in Tshwane on Thursday.
According to the report, women who are without education and primary education earn 55% of the salary of men doing the same work.
The report further states that nationally, women get paid between 70% of what men earn.

Statistician-General Risenga Maluleke says the biggest contributor to income inequality is the labour market, in which women remain vulnerable.
