Steenhuisen addressed members at the party's first national election rally at the Durban ICC on Saturday.

According to Steenhuisen, the latest poll numbers indicate the former agreement between eight opposition parties, which was signed with the aim to unseat the ANC, is polling at 50% in KZN.

"The multi-party charter crossed the magic majority threshold here in KZN,” he told DA members.

"It means we are on track to take on the government next year, not only on a national level but in a coalition here in KwaZulu-Natal.

“The DA down here in KwaZulu-Natal is on 21%, the IFP Is on 24, and the rest of the charter partners are collectively on 4%, so that's what winning looks like."

"There is a majority. There is something to go out and fight for every single day."
