The story behind shocking R1million Eskom bill
A woman who was slapped with a R1million Eskom bill is now breathing a sigh of relief.
Maree McCreadie from KwaZulu-Natal opened her emails to find the exorbitant bill on Tuesday.
She posted the bill on Facebook - highlighting her astonishment at the unexplainable amount.
McCreadie says the bill was for her guesthouse which has been unoccupied since the end of June.
She's told Jacaranda FM News the billing error has since been resolved - much to her delight.
Eskom described the bill as a "genuine mistake".
The power utility's spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe says: "The computer incorrectly generated the wrong figure."
