Various roads in the vicinity of the Stadium precinct were closed on Tuesday night - 12 hours ahead of the service.

Thousands of mourners are expected to gather at the stadium to pay their last respects to the Mother of the Nation, before her official Category One funeral on Saturday.

The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) has implemented strict security measures for the service at Orlando.

"Mooki Street in Orlando has been closed. From Soweto Motorway up to Sofasonke Street has also been closed. Klipvalley road from the N17 up to Khumalo - no vehicles will be allowed," says JMPD spokesperson Edna Mamonyane.

According to Mamonyane, residents of Orlando will have to collect authorisation tickets from the local police station to be abe to gain access to their near-by homes.

"Residents have been requested to go to Orlando Police Station to get tickets for them to be able to get into their houses. People attending the memorial are requested to please go and park at Nasrec Expo Centre, there will be buses transporting them to the venue."
