Students to write deferred exams after taxi strike
Updated | By Jacaranda FM news
Gauteng's major universities say students will not be disadvantaged because of the taxi strike.
Many students failed to pitch up for exams as taxis blockaded major routes.
The University of Pretoria (UP), Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), Wits University and Unisa say students who missed their exams will be allowed to apply and write deferred examinations.
Taxi drivers affiliated to the South African National Taxi Association (Santaco) brought peak hour traffic to a standstill.
They're striking over the high tariffs charged on Toyota Quantum vehicles.
UP spokesperson Candice Jooste says students who were not able to write, will write during the supplementary period.
