A suspect was killed in a shootout with the police near Soweto following a robbery at a Dion Wired store in Cresta Shopping Centre in Randburg on Tuesday afternoon.

Police arrested a second suspect while another one is still on the run.
Gauteng police spokesperson Mathapelo Peters says the suspects were spotted in driving on the highway.
"One firearm was recovered from the vehicle and will be subjected to ballistic testing to establish possible linkage to previous crimes," says Peters.
She adds that police are still in search of a second vehicle believed to be involved in the robbery and which went in the direction of Pimville.

A security guard, believed to be in his 30s, was shot and wounded on his leg during the robbery.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring says the man had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper leg and was in a serious condition.
"The man was treated for his injuries and provided with pain-relief medication before he was transported to a private hospital for further care," says Meiring.
Three other staff members were also assessed after they were assaulted by the gunmen.
