The bail application for North West woman accused of killing her niece to claim insurance payouts has been postponed to 13 December.
Forty-nine-year-old Agnes Setshwantsho appeared in the Molopo Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Setshwantsho is facing a charge of murder, two of fraud and one of defeating the ends of justice.
Her defence attorney read an affidavit on her behalf, stating reasons why she should be granted bail.
The state has called on Investigating Officer Sergeant Kheshi Mabunda to take a stand and he provided the court with reasons for opposing bail.
He is expected to continue with his testimony and the accused’ attorney is also expected to cross-examine him in the next court sitting.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Henry Mamothame says investigations have revealed that the suspect fraudulently took out insurance on behalf of her relative before her murder.
"Police are conducting further investigations, with the possibility of adding more charges against the accused. Meanwhile, the accused will remain in police custody pending the outcome of the bail application."
