At least 10 people have died following a shooting in KwaZulu-Natal.
Police say two vehicles collided after a taxi boss was ambushed and shot at.
Police spokesperson Thandeka Mbele says a taxi association official was ambushed while travelling with four of his security guards on the N11 near Ladysmith.
"The deputy chairperson of the Klipriver Taxi Association was travelling with his bodyguards in a double cab when they were ambushed. Several shots were fired towards them."
Mbele says the five have died.
"The driver then lost control of the vehicle and collided with a taxi which is believed to be a staff vehicle for teachers," she says.
Five people, who were travelling in the taxi, were also killed.
The other victims have been injured and transported to hospital for further medical treatment.
