This comes after the South African Air Services Licensing Council last week gave SAA 90 days to meet compliance demands and reveal details about its deal with Takatso.

SAA could face the suspension of its licence if its unable to meet the compliance demands.

In a statement on Monday, Takatso said it is looking forward to concluding the transaction.

"This as the consortium shares the government’s view that the transaction will be an eminent example of a public/private partnership in one of South Africa’s most important sectors,” the statement read.

"Takatso has an experienced and capable team ready to operate SAA as soon as all regulatory approvals have been achieved.

"In conclusion, Takatso is keen to contribute to the development of the aviation sector in SA, job creation and increasing connectivity in Africa.”

Takatso is expected to provide some R3 billion over two years to keep SAA in the air once the deal is concluded.
