'Take Back Wits' to march on campus
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
A group of students calling themselves the 'Take Back Wits' movement is set to march on the main campus on Wednesday morning, demanding that the resumption of the academic year.
Law student Pervania Pillay said there are hundreds of concerned final year students who simply cannot afford to return to university next year to finish their studies.
"When you stand up, you are being called a traitor. You're then called somebody with privilege and that's really not the point we are trying to get across. The point is that we are worried," Pillay said.
The academic program has been suspended for the rest of the week, but talks between the management, student representatives and other stakeholders will continue.
