Task team to investigate NSFAS challenges
Updated | By Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande says an inter-ministerial committee will be set up to deal with the challenges facing the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).

The scheme, which has been placed under administration, is facing increasing backlogs in funding students at different institutions.
Nzimande was briefing the media ahead of his department’s budget vote speech on Friday.
"The focus is to ensure the immediate short term stability of NSFAS and put in effective systems to ensure funding gets to qualifying students on time. A full assessment and investigation into the root causes of the systems, processes and capacity problems will be undertaken by a specialist interministerial task team that I will appoint over the next few months."
