TAU: Ramaphosa's AgriSA meeting a smokescreen for theft

The Transvaal Agricultural Union (TAU) has described the recent meeting between President Cyril Ramaphosa and commercial farmers union AgriSA as a smokescreen for land theft.

TAU's Regional Chairperson in Eastern Cape, Johan Steyn, says the African National Congress' (ANC) policy on land expropriation without compensation is a polite term for legalised theft.

"So the meetings which took place between AgriSA and the government earlier this week and subsequent publicity that which appeared in the media trying to people at ease is purely a smokescreen.”

He adds the ANC has not departed from the stated policy of legalised theft of private property.

He believes Ramaphosa is trying to lure farmers into a false sense of security that the party will not proceed with legalised theft.

"Comments against the ANC policies made by country's like the USA and Australia is proof that president Ramaphosa is not pulling the wool over these countries eyes, like the rest of South Africans."

He believes the police to expropriate land without compensation is a declaration of war against private ownership in the country.
