Taxi strike: ACSA in talks with airlines to accommodate travellers
Updated | By MornéJK
The Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) says it is in discussions with various airlines to try and accommodate passengers who missed their flights as a result of the drive-slow protest by metered taxi drivers.
According ACSA's Refentse Shinners they have been in contact with various domestic flight operators to establish how they can accommodate travellers delayed by the blockade.
"Passengers must try and avoid being delayed for a flight, the airport management advises passengers to use the Gautrain wherever possible," she says.

She adds that while passengers could avoid the R24 and R21 and use other roads to the airport, passengers must allow enough time for any congestion and delays heading to O.R. Tambo International Airport.
"Passengers are also advised that negotiations are underway with airlines. Further updates will be provided as the situation evolves."
Shinners also advised passengers arriving at the airport to remain there until the traffic backlog clears.
