A 55-year-old teacher, accused of assaulting a nine-year-old boy by squeezing ballpoint pens between his fingers, appeared in the Mogwase Magistrate’s Court, North West police said on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson Major Pelonomi Makau said the teacher appeared in court on Monday and was released on R500 bail.
“The appearance of the accused spiralled from an incident that took place on Thursday, 28 January, 2016, at a primary school in Moruleng village in Rustenburg. The child was sent to the hospital with serious injuries.”
The case was postponed to February 23 for investigation. He faces a charge of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.
