Teaching disrupted at Klipspruit-West Secondary
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The Gauteng Department of Education has confirmed that no teaching took place at Klipspruit- West Secondary after the community barred several teachers from entering the school on Monday.
Learners from grades 8, 9,10 and 11 have been affected and their preliminary examinations disrupted.
"We don't understand why they are trying to hold us ransom. The future of our children is being hampered" says Gauteng Department of Education Spokesperson Steve Mabona.
It's understood community members refused to allow four black teachers onto the premises following allegations of misconduct against them.
Other teachers then boycotted classes in solidarity with the group, resulting in exams being disrupted.
Mabona says the department is appealing for patience while they investigate the allegations.
