Teen drowns at Free State quarantine facility

A teenager from Ladybrand in the Free State has died at a Covid-19 quarantine facility.
According to the regional Health Department, the 16-year-old drowned at the Sterkfontein Dam.

The department’s Mondli Mvambi says the pupil was part of the group quarantined due to an increase in Covid-19 positive cases at schools in Ladybrand.
Mvambi says preliminary investigations indicate that two pupils went swimming without supervision.
The second pupil survived.
