Pastor Paseka "Mboro" Motsoeneng plans to lay charges of culpable homicide against paramedics who were called out to his church on Sunday, saying they acted negligently.

Ekurhuleni Emergency Medical Services were called out to the Incredible Happenings church in Katlehong after a young child had collapsed.

EMS spokesperson William Ntladi explains the child was declared dead on scene after receiving treatment in the ambulance.

Ntladi claims Motsoeneng assaulted the female ambulance driver as the child was being treated.

"There was a misunderstanding between the driver of the ambulance and the pastor, where the pastor manhandled the lady," says EMS spokesperson William Ntladi.

He explains that the woman called for backup as the incident unfolded, with the paramedic sustaining a "laceration on her face".

She has subsequently laid a charge of assault against Motsoeneng.

The pastor has however denied this version of events, saying, "She can lay whatever charges because the whole thing, they were pushing that story because they were running away from the crime they did".

He in turn claims the paramedics are the ones that failed the child as the were not only late, but failed to treat the matter with the seriousness and urgency it deserved.

"Was it fair for the child to have to wait for people to open the door?... Was it fair for the child to not get any oxygen or any attention?" says Motsoeneng.

"Their job is to save a life, nothing else," says Motsoeneng. "They failed that innocent baby."

Ntladi meanwhile says they hope that the law will take its course and says they will respond at a later stage.
