It's expected to be a quick first appearance for the former president, who last month was served with the indictment and summons to appear in court.

NPA head Shaun Abrahams announced then, that almost decade old charges would be re-instated.

Various organisations have vowed to support Zuma in his legal battle.

A full bench of judges will preside over the matter.

The National Funeral Practitioners' Association of South Africa (Nafupa SA) and Black First Land First confirmed that their supporters would rock up in their numbers.

"When it comes to president Zuma people want to assume that he is guilty until he is proven innocent by a court of law, it doesn't work that way," says Nafupa's spokesperson Nkosentsha Shezi.

"The National Prosecuting Authority and the judiciary have been captured by white monopoly capital to use these organs of the state to demonise and send to jail leaders who stand for radical economic transformation, in particular President Jacob Zuma," says BLF deputy president of Zanele Lwana.

Around two-thousand people are expected to overnight at Durban's Albert Park, where a night vigil will be held.

Durban Metro Police's Parboo Sewpersad confirmed that officers will be monitoring the situation and assisting motorists as roads are expected to be heavily affected.
