Thousands of comic and pop culture fans flooded to the Gallager Convention Centre in Midrand on Saturday for the three-day Comic Con Africa festival.
Comic Con Africa is the South African version of the popular Comic Con festival which was first established in the United States in 1970.
The festival started as a comic book convention in San Diego, showcasing mainly comic books and science fiction and fantasy films, but has since expanded to include genres like gaming, anime and toys.
Fans of movies came dressed in various costumes of their favorite characters.

Matriculant Yolandie van Wyk came dressed Princess Layla from the popular Star Wars franchise.
She says she chose because she is inspired by the princess’ strength and ferocity.
Van Wyk says she initially wanted to come dressed as a Horgwats student from House Slytherin.
