Thousands from Wits, UJ protest at Luthuli House
Updated | By JacaNews
For a second consecutive day, astonishing scenes have played itself out in front of a landmark building in South Africa.
Thousands of students marched to the ANC's Luthuli House in the Johannesburg CBD, where they handed over a memorandum to the ANC's Secretary General Gwede Mantashe on Thursday.
This follows Wednesday's march by students to Parliament in Cape Town.
As Silindelo Masikane reports, Mantashe was given a tough time, as he heeded students' call to leave the stage, come down and address them on the street.
One of the students read out their demands in front of the ruling party's headquarters.
Students marched on the ANC's headquarters carrying placards reading #ANCMustFall.
The group danced and sang struggle songs as they waited for ANC leadership to arrive.
Wits and UJ students had marched to Braamfontein earlier on Thursday, but were turned back by police.
