Three Joburg motorists nabbed for clocking 190 km/h on N4

Three motorists have been arrested by Gauteng Traffic Police for excessive speeding on the N4.

The three men were arrested on Wednesday night after they were each caught clocking over 190km/h. 


Gauteng Traffic Police spokesperson Sello Maremane said the first suspect was caught clocking192km/h, the second suspect was driving at 190km/h and the third suspect 193km/h in a 120km/h zone.


“Motorists are urged to always adhere to the prescribed speed limits. Excessive speeding poses a danger to all road users and increases the likelihood for motorists to be involved in a collision with a car or pedestrian. 


"Furthermore, the traffic police will not tolerate reckless, and negligent behaviour on the road. Those who are found in violation of the rules of the road will be prosecuted." 


The suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
