The City of Johannesburg Emergency Services Management (EMS) recovered three bodies following a drowning incident at Snake Park, in Soweto on Saturday.
EMS spokesperson, Nana Radebe Kgiba said emergency services responded to a drowning incident in a stream near the Mayibuye Bridge.
“On arrival, we found that a baptism ritual was held and three male adults between the ages of 24 and 30 have drowned,” she said.
“We are urging people to be very careful; this is a second incident within the space of four weeks where there’s a baptism ritual and people have drowned.”
