Three trucks burnt in Lichtenburg protest

Police have arrested five suspects after three trucks were burnt this morning in Blaydeville near Lichtenburg.

Police spokesperson Sabata Mokgwabane says the suspects have been arrested on charges of public violence.
"The members of the community are allegedly complaining about municipal services," says Mokgawabana.

He says while community members have the right to protest, they need to do so peacefully.
"When community members protest, they should do so within the ambits of the law."

Mokgwabane says police are on the scene to maintain calm.
