This report has been signed and sealed until the North Gauteng High Court rules on urgent applications which will be heard next month.

Madonsela's press briefing started a few minutes late, because she met with her successor Busisiwe Mkhwebane.

Deputy Public Protector Kevin Malunga started off the press briefing by saying this is the final day of an epic seven years of Madonsela's term in office.

"The fact that there is so much attention as we're seeing today is indicative of the level of interest the institution now generates and the level of trust the institution now generates," he said.

Malunga thanked Madonsela and the team for their hard work, saying there is more good than bad that has come out of the institution.

"Madonsela has been a stellar captain. She has walked the talk. I know she's probably going to shed a tear later today," he said.
