Toddler drowns in Gauteng
Updated | By ANA
A three-year old boy drowned in a swimming pool at a home in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng on Tuesday evening, ER24 said on Wednesday.
ER24 spokesperson Pieter Rossouw said paramedics were called to the scene at about 7pm on Tuesday night.
“When they arrived they found that the child’s parents had already started performing CPR. ER24 paramedics took over CPR but the child’s vital signs deteriorated and he was declared dead on scene”, Rossouw said.
He said authorities were investigating the cause of the incident.
ER24 urged parents to never allow children to swim alone or without adult supervision, and said pools should either be covered or fenced to prevent children from falling in accidentally.
