Mpumalanga police commissioner Semakaleng Manamela and provincial police spoksperson Selvy Mohlala are expected to testify in the murder trial of Hillary Gardee.
Their appearance in court reportedly relates to the alleged confession made by one of the four suspects while in custody.
Sipho Mkhatshwa, Philemon Lukhele, Mduduzi Nkala, and Hlabirwa Nkuna face charges of murder, conspiracy to murder, kidnapping, rape, possession of firearms, and defeating the ends of justice.
Mohlala says they are still unsure when they will be called to testify.
"Myself and the commissioner are on stand-by to appear if needed. This relates to the case of Hillary Gardee, we are on standby to testify in case we are called to, but we don't know in terms of what. There is nothing wrong that we have done."
Last month a fifth suspect a Nigerian national known as 'Biggie' was provisionally released from custody after he was arrested for defeating the ends of justice.
It is understood that he bought Gardee’s laptop and cellphone from one of the suspects.
The 28-year-old, who went missing in April, was the daughter of former EFF secretary-general turned attorney Godrich Gardee.
Her body was found dumped in the bushes outside Mbombela in Mpumalanga in May.
