Tornado hits Ennerdale

Dozens of homes were damaged when a tornado struck parts of Ennerdale, south of Johannesburg last night.

The tornado hit the area late yesterday afternoon, leaving a trial of destruction in its wake.
Emergency services were dispatched to the affected area, but the extent of the damage is not known at this stage.
No injuries or fatalities have been reported and Joburg EMS says the damage will be assessed in the morning.
Yesterday the MEC for Social Development, Nandi Nayathula-Khoza offered refuge to families affected by last week's flooding in Alexandra, saying the Gauteng government will assist where it can.

She visited the affected families yesterday.
"This is a government-owned place, so they will be accommodated here up until an alternative place is arranged by the department of human settlement," she said.

The tornado wreaked havoc leaving streets littered with debris while causing extensive damage to some houses.
