The National Freedom Party's Sabelo Sigudu described Mkhize as a rare breed and a trendsetter who was dedicated to his craft.

"We are sadden indeed to lose one of the multi-talented music artist who dedicated all this life in the music industry to groom and also shape the future of young rappers in South Africa. We describe ProKid as a selfless music artist who was very humble.

"South Africa had its own Eminem, 50 Cent and 2Pac and through Linda Mkhize (ProKid), we urge young people who are involved in drugs or any substance abuse to stop and follow the good example of ProKid, and pursue their freely given talents. The contribution ProKid made has driven many artists today out of poverty.”

Details of the memorial and funeral services are expected to be announced soon.
