Truck transporting prisoners collides with taxi

Almost 60 people have been injured after a collision in the Western Cape.

A truck transporting prisoners collided with a taxi at the intersection on Spine and Eisleben roads in Mitchell's Plain on Friday morning.
ER24 says it responded to the call at 09:00.
Spokesperson Russel Meiring says: "Upon arrival, paramedics found the transporter lying on its side while the taxi was found upright at the intersection. Occupants from the taxi and transported were found lying all around the scene."
Rolls Royce stolen, driven and abandoned
Western Cape police spokesperson Andre Traut says the circumstances surrounding the crash is being investigated.
"The SAPS truck was transporting the prisoners to court. Two police officers, 43 prisoners and occupants of the taxi were transported to hospital for treatment."
The patients sustained minor to moderate injuries.
No fatalities were recorded at the scene.
