Tshwane and city manager part ways
Updated | By Nokukhanya Mntambo
The City of Tshwane and controversial city manager Moeketsi Mosola have agreed to part ways.
Mosola signed an agreement with council on Thursday.
The initial agreement was extended after the city and Mosola failed to find common ground.
"Dr Moeketsi Mosola has been at the helm of the City of Tshwane since March 2017. As part of the separation agreement he will be paid the remainder of his contract which is going to be calculated for the remainder of the two and a half years," says mayoral spokesperson, Omogolo Taunyane.
Mosola was implicated in the irregular multi-million rand GladAfrica tender.
The Auditor-General found that the tender did not comply with supply-chain management regulations or the constitution.
Taunyane adds that the decision will assist in cleaning up the city.

"The decision was a culmination of the mayor's efforts to ensure that the city is stabilised. It is no secret that the city has experienced heightened tensions between political office bearers and the administration dating back to 2018. So ensuring that we have this agreement in place paves the way for a positive trajectory for the city's administration."
Laurette Tredoux will serve as acting city manager.
