Msimanga's chief of staff resigns
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
Marietha Aucamp, the chief of staff in Tshwane Mayor Solly Msimanga's office, has tendered her resignation amid a row over her qualifications.
Aucamp has been embroiled in claims that she was improperly appointed after it was revealed that she has no tertiary qualification.
"I wish to state that I accept her resignation and will inform the Office of the City Manager to whom the Chief of Staff reports so as to observe all die process in this regard," Msimanga said in a statement on Thursday.
The City of Tshwane says while the discrepancies will be investigated, the position does not require any post-matric qualification.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Tshwane has since called on Msimanga to vacate his office due to the alleged irregularities.
The party claims to be in possession of evidence that Msimanga was part of the panel that assessed Aucamp and gave her the job.
Msimanga has denied the allegations.
"We note that following the revelations that have come to the fore, the prima facie evidence before us and the controversy surrounding the matter, as the Executive Mayor, I had no option but to ask her to resign," wrote Msimanga.
